Apparently I'm the weird one here, but I would like to find a guy like my dad. Not because he's like my dad, which is creepy, but because my dad is just a really good person and happens to have the same qualities that I would like in a partner.

This. My dad is sweet and kind and he loves to cook and spoil my mom, but they joke around and tease each other too. I aspire to that kind of relationship.

I want someone who has certain qualities of my dad because I admire them in him. He's really hardworking and loyal.

This. My dad is a great person and I would admire him even if he weren't my dad. The traits that make him admirable are the same sort of things I would look for in a partner-- smart, kind, funny, good around the house, etc.

This exactly! Far from any Freudian nonsense, if I marry a guy who's a lot like my dad, that would be good for me because my dad was an all-around pretty good guy. I don't want to marry a guy like my dad because I wanted to sleep with my dad (ew!), I want to marry a guy who's kind, smart, and always an equal partner in the relationship.

This absolutely! My dad's the kindest person I know, and one of the smartest too.

Plus, we have very similar ways of looking at the world, and very similar taste in art and entertainment. Now admittedly, our perspectives and tastes are so similar specifically because he raised me, and it's probably unlikely that I would be able to find a romantic partner with perspectives and tastes that similar to my own. That said, it would be awfully nice if I could.
