Disagree. A lot of technological advancement has been halted because it's deemed unprofitable and/or competes with big business. There are a lot of advancements we could be a lot further in if we didn't live in a capitalist society.

Offhand the biggest example I can think of is the oil industry fighting against any clean and renewable energy advances.

Do you have specific examples of technological advances, or just a general sense of underinvestment? You hear a lot about gasoline pills and that kind of thing from people who talk about this.

I think it's more the problem of big capital perverting the political process to serve the bottom line or even just the prejudices of the men in charge. This is a huge problem in the USA today. Donald Trump pulling out of the Paris Accord is just part of it.
