I assume Peter (or Yondu) had to build in some kind of adapter so that the Walkman can run on some attainable energy source. And they're stuck with whatever was on the Zune when it was found.

I always assumed Yondu did something techy on the sly so the Walkman and tape were unbreakable and ran forever. And then made another Eat Peter joke.
