Inspired by how Harry Potter wank refuses to die. Are people still wanking over Star Trek TOS? How about the original Sherlock Holmes? Do we have great wankage in the Greek mythology fandom, or ship wars over Gilgamesh?

Tolkien fandom sometimes has wank. I'm pretty sure Sherlock has wank. And Doctor Who definitely has wank.

I am entertained by the fact that last I checked, the FFVII shipwar between Clerith and Cloti was still alive and kicking. So not that old, yet, but going on 20 now!

I agree. Why is it that he gets to cheat with no consequences while she'd be horrible for doing the same? I know why, but still. Penelope was the best.

Hey, Odysseus was perfectly capable of staying with Calypso if he so chose. He was still trying to escape her after seven years in captivity, because he wanted to go home to his family.

I dunno much about original Sherlock Holmes wank except that everybody freaked the hell out when Holmes and Moriarty went over the falls and Arthur Conan Doyle got a bunch of death threats.

The Pandora myth has had some...different versions.

The most familiar version to moderns is Hesiod's interpretation, and it specifically has been a puzzle to classicists for a long time. I can't say there's been constant wank, but it is something to argue about.

The last couple of years have really made me understand why hope is an evil and why it was trapped deepest in the box. It really is the cruelest evil because it is the one which tries to make you think you can avoid the others. Hope just jerks you around, taunts you, teases you, drags the situation out by letting you think you might just juuuuuust manage to save yourself before it drops the act and smiles with its bastard grin at you and brings the hammer down. Hope is a lie, never hope. I understand the Ancient Greeks much better now.
