Ideal Dream Vacation

(Anonymous) 2017-06-06 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
If you could go vacation anywhere right now, with cost as no object, where would you go?

Try to limit it to like... 3 places that are reasonably close to each other, maybe? Or not. Do as you like, really.

Japan. I reallllly want to visit Japan. Not sure when it will ever happen but one day!

I'd go to Paris in two weeks, and go to the fan convention I was planning to go to until mom landed in hospice care. I'd get a ton of autographs, and a group photo with all the actors I want to see, especially since four of the five aren't on the show anymore. And then I'd go see a ballet or something at the Garnier to make up for not getting to see the Paris production of Lloyd-Webber's Phantom because the fucking theatre was gutted by a fire and took out the sets and costumes. Then I'd spend a couple weeks wandering around doing normal touristy stuff because Paris. And then I'd take the Chunnel to England and spend a week in London before flying home.

If we're talking "not actually possible," my dream vacation involves taking my miraculously cancer-free, not-dying mom all over Europe, especially Venice and Pompeii, because she wants to go, and going to Hawaii with her because she loves Hawaii, and then dragging her to India to see the rock carved temples and go fabric shopping, and to Iraq to see antiquities that have mostly been looted or destroyed over the last three decades, because I wanted to go.

Ireland. And then head to Scotland, England and maybe hop over to Paris.

I loved Ireland so much and want to go back so badly.

Oh, wow. Ideal trip would be one of three things: Hawaii, train ride across Europe, or New Zealand.

I hope you can get to Hawaii some day, I've been a couple of times and it's a beautiful place.

I hope so too. Hawaii is kind of ideal to me because I love beaches and swimming but also am really interested in volcanoes.

I went to Waikiki and checked out Diamond Head, you can hike up to the top and the view is great. Also flew over Kilauea and watched the lava coming out. Go if you can, you will love it. Also the fresh fruit is the best.

Skip Oahu: it was already over-touristed when I was stationed there in the early nineties.

Maui (which I went to a few years ago for a cousin's wedding) is much more sane.

Is there a relationship between those three?

(I know there doesn't have to be a relationship, I'm just curious if there is)

Nah, they're just interesting places I've never been to. But I suppose the connection is antiquities, I love studying ancient cultures.

England/Wales/Scotland, a trip that encompasses both the coasts and criss-crossing the countryside.

Disney World (even though I used to work there)
Universal Studios
I would also visit some other places in the Orlando area.

Either going back to visit Amsterdam because I really enjoyed it there, or going back to New York City because there are things I want to see on Broadway.

I've been to Amsterdam and I used to live in New York. They're both great!
