Actually, I am gay and have been physically, emotionally, and verbally abused for it many times in the past.

I understand that my wording was...probably not the best, but I was annoyed when I made it and I was trying to convey a comparison that, while not entirely accurate, was at least recognizable and might make someone stop and think.

Fair enough, that's why I used the phrasing 'as far as I know' (and you have my sympathies, for the record)

Personally, I don't like the furry bashing either. But likening the bashers to homophobes and racists usually just escalates into mayhem and angriness on all sides, every time I've seen it used.

I agree completely. Both with Jacob being one of the only characters that I can stand /and/ that Bella doesn't really deserve him.

Despite that, I still can't stop shipping it. I can't picture Jake being happy with anyone else.
