Men's clothes are supposed to button to the right and women's to the left. This is not always the case IRL though!

Part of my job involves outdoor work and I buy most of my outdoor work clothes at the Goodwill because they're going to have a short lifespan anyway so might as well get them cheap. I tend to buy men's shirts for this for a variety of reasons, and they do usually button on the other side than my normal women's shirts. In fact, switching back and forth can be confusing and I'll find myself reaching for the wrong side!
