I worry about looking like a hypochondriac too. Or worse. One of my most persistent paranoid fears is that people think I'm lying about being sick.

Oh, gods me too.

Its one of the reasons I'm making do on the anti-depressants I'm on. I know they're not enough, but how do you talk about something as unproovable as depression without sounding melodramatic or like a faker?

I do a lot better talking about mental stuff because I'm lucky enough to have an awesome psychiatrist. Of course the flipside of that is that everything else gets explained away as just another depression or anxiety symptom unless I can deal with other doctors long enough to get them to seriously consider other possibilities. I had to fight for even a shrug and a "fibromyalgia?" from a rheumatologist because depression can cause aches and fatigue.

It's better to go in and be told it's nothing than to actually have a condition that gets worse without treatment!

The type of logic only works on the non-paranoid type of fears and anxieties.
