I've been in fandom long enough to notice the shift from just trashing and bashing the ship/characters/shippers into this weird era where people try to make the moral high ground by claiming everything they don't like is problematic for one reason or another.

I kinda miss the days where people just fought over ships not trying to make themselves seem clean and pure compared to others.

Same. And not just shipping, but fan attitudes in general.

+1

Even the shipping arguments that claim Ship #1 just makes more sense within the canon material than Ship #2 (which is obviously subjective in many cases and nit jst a statement of fact) don't hold a candle to all the arguments about ships/not shipping a ship being racist or homophobic or pedophilic or supporting abuse or whatever.

It really has sucked all the fun out of fandom.
