Secret 4 made me realize I'm mostly a dirty pirate.

Secret 3 I mean.

Hey, don't sell yourself short. I'm sure you're a well groomed pirate at least.

It kinda depends.

Is it a movie I'm going to watch literally once and never again? Never.

Is it a movie I pirated and watched and liked enough to watch repeatedly? I get the DVD even if I never use it.

Is it an indie game? Pay for it.

Is it a AAA game that I'm only going to play once? Pirate it.

Is it a version of a game that isn't officially supported any more e.g. legacy MMO servers of older versions? Private server.

Is it the current retail version of an MMO? Pay for it.

Same here, except for the MMO part since I don't play those.

Also older TV shows, it wasn't until recently that shows like Rocko's Modern Life got DVD releases at all, but once it did I bought it.

Depends what it is. For music, I mostly try to pay for it, especially for artists that are still living and active, and for smaller artists. For TV and movies, I mostly don't pirate but that's just cause it's a hassle.

So you don't stream TV shows or movies either?

I mostly stream stuff through paid services (IE Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime). Not so much outside of that. I guess the only exceptions are classic Doctor Who and old MST3K episodes on Youtube.

There's some stuff that's so hard to find, you can't even find it legally, there's where I steal it.

if i'm interested in a movie and one of the actors is - and I hate to say it but here we go - problematic - i'm going to steal it. "but what about the other people who are in it?" - tough. If i'm mildly curious but not dying to see it, I steal it.

If it's something I know probably won't make a lot of money, or is an indie production, I support it.

It depends on how often I want to rewatch/reread.

I pay for Netflix, I pay for cable, and I go to the movies any chance I get. My finances are good and I'm willing to pay for stuff... if it's convenient. If it's a pain in the ass to get something the "legit" way, I will pirate it.

Oh but I pirate 99% of the music I own, despite also having Apple Music.

Not at all these days. I got Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, and HBO Go for shows/movies.

I have Spotify for music. Spotify was the big changer for me. Why on earth would I waste time pirating when I can just use Spotify?

And I've never pirated video games and such.

Most of it tbh, the only thing I stream illegally is maybe one or two US TV shows that I can't find easily on TV over here. The rest of it however is either available on Netflix or on the TV channels that air them over here.

I don't know how to pirate so I pay for everything.

Pretty much all the time, unless it's not commercially available at all, in a format I can use, or where I am. So theatre bootlegs and films/tv shows that aren't available on dvd. I especially hate when I want to buy a physical copy of something and it's only available on a subscription service. Well, or if it's not available at all.

Difficult to say...I pay for cable (including Starz/Encore and HBO), Netflix, Amazon, I subscribe to 3 YTers on Patreon (and plan to subscribe to a few more but I may only be able to afford to do $1 per person per month), I go to the cinemas and rent/buy DVDs, I've never downloaded a book...

The only place I don't spend much money on is music. I only buy music if it's a musician or soundtrack I really, really like.

We have satellite tv--so major networks, but not specialty shit like HBO or TMN cus it costs too much extra. We also have netflix. I do tend to stream watch my tv shows (I use yesmovies.to), even if they're on network tv for the convenience/lack of commercials--we don't have a dvr, so I can't record and watch later.

Movies: if it's something I'll only watch once? I stream it--from netflix if it's on there, from yesmovies if it's newer, though I don't do the cam streams. If it's something I know I'll rewatch, I'll get the dvd (though may still watch it online--I'm lazy and my laptop doesn't have a cd/dvd player in it). I have d/led and burned a few movies for my parents that were no longer available on dvd. Oh, and I've been known to borrow movies/seasons of tv shows from the library and rip/burn them. If I had the money I'd buy originals of everything, but I don't.

I d/l most of my music from a site called melodysale--they only charge a few cents/song or a couple dollars per album. Not sure if it's totes legal, but they haven't been shut down. If it's a local artist--I'll either buy the cd or buy it off iTunes, which ever is easier.

I only buy books if it's something I love and know I'll re-read, otherwise, I borrow from the library (and with that it can be either an actual book or e-book).

So, mostly pirate, I guess.

I buy a lot of DVDs but honestly I just mooch off other people.

My parents pay for cable, so I'll usually go to their house to watch the shows on cable. A friend pays for Netflix, so I watch a lot through that.

Movies? I go to a lot of free screenings (I've gone to 8 so far this year) or I'll go to Cheap Movie Tuesday, where it's only $6 instead of the normal $12. Another friend will pay for my movie tickets at a different theater on Tuesdays because it's buy one get one free.

Music I tend to buy from the artists or go to their concerts (I also win a lot of free concert tickets too)

I pretty much don't pirate at all, but I find ways around it.

I borrow movies/music/books from the library all the time.

Most of the time, except for spotify.

im really poor. i used to buy dvds just to check out movies but no more, i also have tons of cds but all new music i want, pirated.

as for games, i will pirate them and if i enjoyed them i make a point buying them on sale. i know it's not the same as buying at full price when it comes out but that's all my bank account allows.

I'm almost split between streaming stuff for free from everywhere that won't give me a virus or force me to sign up for a website that will make me go through hoops, and just paying for media, usually in the form of downloads.
