Tiniest Fandoms You Got

Just to see if someone else around wants to chat about em - what are some things you like that have very small fandoms or no fandoms at all?

Hmmm. Legend of the Seeker used to be larger, but it is pretty tiny at this moment.

Warcraft movie-only fandom? Warhammer 40k fandom (is there a fandom outside of just playing the games?)? Jurassic Park universe?

Not sure there is even a fandom or if I want a fandom, but I'd love fics exploring the world of Reign of Fire and that whole post-apocalyptic destroyed by dragons world. Totally my favorite fictional apocalypse.

Babylon 5's fandom is pretty small these days. Not sure if it is the smallest, though.

And my favorite summer show, the Night Shift, should be returning soon, and I wish there was a fandom.

LotS started dy9ing when people started reading the source material and realizing what a sodding nutter the author was.

Yes, the author was a nutjob. But the LOTS fandom was always very separate from the book fandom. And it lasted a good year or so after the show ended. It just eventually died out when it was clear we weren't going to get any more new content, and people moved onto other fandoms.

Warhammer 40K has a HUGE fandom on 4chan.org/tg and 1d4chan.org, and Ciaphas Cain has fans on a bunch of different sites.

Ah. I wouldn't go anywhere near 4chan, but nice to know there is a fandom.

Earth's Children. It's basically one website.

Out of curiosity, does the fandom pretend the last book doesn't exist? (Haven't read it, just remember a lot of "wtf, why?" reactions from people who did.)

Ulysses 31. Anyone else love the design of the spaceship in it? Magic gods and cute robots aside, it is still probably the most scientifically accurate space ship on tv. We get to see it using forward and rear thrusters to decelerate and accelerate in maneuvers. All the tv space ships have big engines at the back but never have anything to slow them down or intermittently fire thrusters in sequence to change direction. Also it must have a wicked cool male hair stylist somewhere on board too.

Is there any other Ulysses 31 fans out there?

I have very vague memories of Ulysses 31, but the theme song was great!

Look at that glorious mane of hair, and the rocket belt, lightsaber pistol, and energy shield. But mainly that glorious mane of hair

Some of the lesser popular Marvel comics: X-Factor, New Mutants, NYX

Apparently, no one else here reads Erma, which surprises me, because it's kind of a thing on Imgur. I've never gotten a response to secrets about it.

What is it?

Re: Tiniest Fandoms You Got

It's a webcomic about the adventures and friendships of a schoolgirl who's a (half?)ghost. It gets a lot of mileage out of taking horror tropes and subverting the living hell out of them, e.g. https://m.tapas.io/episode/431436

Niki Lauda/James Hunt from Rush (not the RPS fandom). That movie was so excellent and the pairing hits so many of my kinks. There is a little bit of fic for it but the quality mostly isn't that great. Sigh.

Have you ever looked at the RPS fics for the pairing? Because the film is if not completely 100% correct it gets the characterisation pretty similar to the 'real' Lauda and Hunt, while also the films plot is their actual lives with some creative liberties so I would assume the RPS fics would have the things you are looking for. A lot of the Rush fics aren't tagged with the film rather the RPS tag, if I'm not mistaken.

Then again I guess as you don't want the RPS fandom for it the point is moot. In general the F1 fandom doesn't really have the best ratio of amazing to ok fics in the world, tho there are some quite good ones in there and I would think Lauda/Hunt is one of the bigger pairings so your chances are higher.

... yes, yes I know, it's my fandom and it sounds like I am 'hiding' my knowledge. But it's more a case of not reading much fanfics in the fandom, and especially not Lauda/Hunt ones

I really wish the movie version of the League of Extraordinary Gentleman had a bigger fandom. I mean, yes, it was a pretty bad movie, but it was fun, and I really shipped Jekyll/Hyde/Nemo and would've liked more (or any) ship fic for them.

In a similar vein, I kinda wish there was a fandom for the Hammer Horror Dracula movies, but I'll admit straight up that's mostly because I want h/c fic with Peter Cushing's Van Helsing.

There are a bunch of 70s/80s shows that I wish could have had a modern-style fandom. UFO, Airwolf, Alias Smith & Jones. Meta for UFO would have been amazing, given it was 70s cheese and appalling fashion one minute and pitch-black Cold War nastiness the next. I would read so many crossover fanfics where someone dumped Commander Straker in any of the more optimistic, utopian sci-fi universes (*cough*Star Trek*cough*). I'd like crossovers for a lot of them, though. An Airwolf/Sentinel crossover would be amazing.

Nobody but me even remembers two early 70s TV shows I was obsessed with as a kid, Tomfoolery and The Curiosity Shop.

Couple of fandoms from a 1970s British children's magazine.
