Stealth cosplay

Do you have any outfits or accessories you wear because of character, show, etc that you like? What is it?

Re: Stealth cosplay

(Anonymous) 2017-06-10 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Most of the clothing I buy is usually either inspired by my favorite characters or is straight up me trying to copy their outfits. Specifically, I used collect a lot of the clothing Clara Oswald wore, but ended up selling all of it to help pay off some student loan debt.

I'm not sure dressing as Clara counts as stealth, Gerald, but as long as you had fun.

I'm sure most people wouldn't look at my dress or top and recognize it something worn on a TV show.

I have a red and yellow striped Lucas shirt ala Mother 3. I'm also currently blonde, so it works on another level!

I have a ring that looks a lot like the Ring of the Lucii, so I wear it on my middle finger for Noct. ♥

I have an HHM t-shirt (HHM is a law firm in Better Call Saul). I wear it when I run. One time, after a run, I hit up Starbucks and met a former work colleague who asked me if HHM was where I was currently working. I didn't feel like explaining so I said yes. Lol.

I knitted That One Scarf from Penguindrum because it was the closest I could get to real merch.

I bought a blue hoodie because of Jack Frost.
I used to wear an orange sweater a lot because of Aya from Weiss Kreuz, but everyone always thought Velma from Scooby Do instead.

I have actually incorporated a number of regular casual shirts worn by One Piece characters, both in canon and in cover art spreads, to my wardrobe because I just. LOVE. Oda's design style. I have like 5 of Zoro's t-shirts, 2 of Sanji's sweatshirts and a couple t's, and some of Luffy's awesome cover art and filler shirts and hoodies. Made them all myself but not for cosplay - I've got actual full costumes for that.

I also have a True Lightning t-shirt and I'm working on some Dynasty Warriors-related shirts.

I used to have a grey dress that I'd wear with a cardigan, black tights, 1930s-esque heels, and a very distinctive black cameo necklace -- it was straight up Iris Crowe cosplay (from Carnivale). I was even routinely pin-curling my hair at the time, too.

I still have the dress and the necklace...more incentive to lose weight and fit into it again.

I own a couple of Belle's outfits from Once Upon a Time and a pair of the same black boots that are worn by a lot of the actresses playing Christine in the Lloyd Webber Phantom of the Opera.

Which outfits do you own? I love Belle's style.

The houndstooth skirt/black floral shirt/burgundy jacket/black wedge boots combo from The Outsider is my favorite, and I also have tthe polka dot navy lace dress and peep toe heels from The Crocodile (couldn't find the maroon in my size so they're black), and a army greenish/brown flared wool coat that was worn in a couple different episodes. I stopped watching in season 3, but there's a top from season 6 I'm on the hunt for and I kind of want to make her Beauty and the Beast dance ballgown now that I've seen clips of it in season 6 without the hoopskirt, if I can find the right fabric. My favorite Belle outfit is her blue maid dress and cloak, and I've never been able to find the chemise fabric for that, or a good match for her little pearl drop necklace, but I lucked out and found the cloak fabric on ebay, and I bought the shoes on amazon. But obviously I can't wear the blue dress as "stealth" cosplay.

Those are some of my favorite outfits. Season 2 Belle had the best clothing. I was a little disappointed how much designer clothing the cast started wearing in S3. Before, there was a good mix of mid-tier clothing with a few designer pieces.

I have a Griever ring, a stainless steel ring that was a replacement for the crappy "Rinoa's Ring" it came with, A Dragonspear pendant, an Evenstar necklace (genuine Weta merch), a Dwarven leather cuff (also Weta) and the stealthiest item a blouse that has a print on it in black, white, grey and a navy blue that I associate with Grey Warden uniform colours and also my Silmaril character Kizár Elennárë Fëanoriel aka Elenaria Surana.

I really like the way Alana Bloom dresses on Hannibal. I've managed to find some of the things she wears on used clothing sites. I like her skirts and dresses. And they're just skirts and dresses, so there's nothing outwardly fannish about them, but I feel fannish wearing them.

I wouldn't call it "stealth" but yeah I have several fandom shirts, one of which - my Vriska t-shirt - is part of a cosplay that I sometimes do. I also have an N7 shirt and a shirt with Mat Cauthon from WoT (it's a really cool shirt, he's picked out in white on a field of black, with ravens)

oh and I have a necklace with a perler bead Link, and some cool earrings made of Lightning Energy Pokemon cards, and a WoT necklace with the actual Wheel symbol with the Serpent - those were all gifts

I might still be forgetting something

Yeah, I have some fandom shirts as well.

I an usually one of those stupidly petty people that insist that nobody is allowed to wear a fandom shirt unless you know what the damn f$@king shirt is about. At least some casual trivia or something, k, plz thanks.

So, I obvs own a rather limited amount of fandom shirts. Star Wars, Voltron Legendary Defender, a striped shirt used for Doctor Who cosplay, and some dippy Batman vs Superman tees my mother bought for me from Europe, of all places. Why the heck buy American licensed merch in Europe? Eeeek.

I have at least a handful.

There's a sweater, it's like a duster, that I bought because it looked like something Duke Crocker would own & wear. It's a very comfortable sweater, and I usually get compliments when I wear it.

I have a plastic gold colored spike bracelet & gold colored big hoop earrings with spike adornments that I bought primarily because I was super into the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga at the time and they reminded me of the Egyptian artifacts throughout the series.

I bought a pair of sparkly, leopard print heels both because leopards are my favorite animals/one of my favorite prints of which I own a lot, and also because that was the same summer that Teen Wolf season 2 was airing and Erica had worn a pair of leopard print heels, so I was thinking of her when I bought them.

I also own several bows from Magical Ribbons, which are designed to look (most often) like Disney characters and Disney theme park rides & attractions, though she also has a few Harry Potter things and some of the Dreamworks characters as well.

There are some others, but those are the big ones, aside from straight fandom gear.

Not very many. I have Ed's pocketwatch from FMA, which I do use as a watch. And I have Cloud's earrings from AC.
I also have a pretty cool Harry Potter fob watch, but the battery is dead, and the straps are a little deteriorated.
And some cool Alice in Wonderland earrings, too.
Actually, the most I have are earrings - I have some cute plastic figurine-earrings of characters from Inuyasha and Sakura Wars.
