I really don't get the 'threesome it!' response that fandom has to love triangles, mostly because I usually can't see at least one pairing in that option work out so smushing them together doesn't 'fix' anything for me.

I'd rather that canons just not do it in the first place(but I would be down for a canon doing the 'love triangle' only to actually make it work as a poly relationship instead, that'd be cool tbh).

Yeah, especially with B -> A <- C type triangles, characters B and C liiiiikely aren't going to want to get together as well. Not saying they'd hate each other necessarily, but hurt feelings are a normal thing, and they don't tend to lend well to poly harmony.

And don't get me wrong, I'd be super down with a canon going in an actual poly direction! But it's got to be all three on equal footing, and starting with a triangle just isn't the way to do it.
