Well, anime loves to have girl characters that are secretly hundreds of years old but look like they're seven years old. I wouldn't blame anyone for getting creeped out by people who find these characters hot lol.

Er, teenage = teenage, and I think it's clear from context that we're talking about characters who are at least presented as teens. So it's really a different category.

The person was talking about cartoon characters that look younger than they are and mentioned the 100 Year Old Anime Girl That Looks Like She's Six Trope, but there are obviously also many teenage anime girls that look like they're six too. The person who replied knows this and was being deliberately obtuse.

100 year old loli is an enirely different trope and problematic than fictional teenagers, so the person who brought it up in context to this secret was being intentionally misleading (or obtuse themself).

I admit I don't watch much anime, but uh? Is this actually a common thing outside specific subgenres??

Not really and it's usually pretty obvious when you're getting into one of /those anime/ because the title is basically the premise. Like they're called "My Little Sister Can't Be This Cute!", "KissXSis", and such.
