I'm thinking stuff like Twilight and Fifty Shades that have glaring flaws yet are praised by people who don't know that there's better things around.

You don't have to be the worst thing ever to be undeserving of the popularity you receive, though. Example: the food at McDonalds isn't poison, but it's definitely not so amazing that it needs an international empire.
