Oh yeah, those books read like a teenage power fantasy, and Kvothe was clearly the author's alter-ego. I'm biased against the author because he knocked Dragon Age 2 in an interview, calling it weak storytelling, while also claiming Kvothe must have been the inspiration for a side character... despite like nothing climactic happening at all in his first book and his characters being cardboard at best.

See, if Rothfuss was a bit less smug about it all I'd probably be less annoyed by him. Then again, given the amount of (undeserved, imo) praise his books garnered, I'm not surprised it went to his head...
