I was still a sweet summer child at 5. It was 6 when shit went south: my best friend didn't invite me to his birthday party because I was a girl, and he didn't want girls at his party, and when I told my mother that I didn't want to invite him to my birthday party she told me I had to invite him or I wouldn't get a birthday party, because I had to be nice. That'll crank up the bitter in a little girl pretty fucking quick, basically telling her that it doesn't matter who treats her like shit or how or why, she has to suck it up deal and be nice.
