I have trouble with this too, OP. That's why I don't really enjoy series like Disappeared. Most of those cases are still unresolved and while I know the show fulfills an important function in raising awareness of those open cases, I find them very unsatisfying.

I'm not fond of them either, but I hate the blatant feeding off someone's tragedy more. A simple report and investigation to keep something from happening again is okay, but the way some of these series just wring and wring the blood out of actual peoples sorrow and pain nauseates me.

I want a resolution in fiction. But I find unsolved cases really interesting.

Same here, though I prefer unsolved cases that don't revolve around murders, because it can get a little depressing.

that's one of the things that bugged me about The Keepers, because no one who was involved was punished for all the horrific shit they did. it's still a good watch although it's kind of all over the place at times and the netflix description does NOT in any way disclose what the series is actually about.

I enjoyed The Keepers despite the lack of resolution. But that was probably because it felt like the participants received some sense of closure just by publicizing the case. All those poor women... your heart just breaks for them and how hard it must've been for them to come forward.

Unsolved mysteries can be interesting, but I do prefer when the guilty are caught.

I don't like to wonder about a killer who might still be out there hurting people.

And cases where the bad guy was caught and/or confessed tend to have a more coherent storyline. By their very natures, unsolved mysteries are going to have pieces missing and speculation (sometimes really interesting speculation, but still speculation).
