Whether its two similar things that just seem hella different to you, or exceptions to your rules, or things you're just flat-out hypocritical about, share your personal inconsistencies here.

So like I have no desire whatsoever to be in romantic or sexual relationships with women. At best, women don't turn me on and at worst some women actively turn me off. I am incredibly almost aggressively straight.

And yet, I feel like I'd be really good at eating pussy, and I'd love to try it. I just need to somehow divorce it from women.

How would it be transphobic? And I mean maybe it's a little fetishistic, but so? As long as it's not my sole reason for being with someone and I see them as more than a guy with a pussy to eat.

I mean, I guess you could read it that way. But that's only because the genitals were the relevant part of this conversation, and I assure you not the only relevant part to my choice in partners.

I could be if you assume every trans guy has a pussy or would be automatically okay with using it for sex I suppose. But that's not what anon is doing

I have no interest in being in a relationship, and every time I think about maybe trying to find a significant other (generally because a friend has just gotten engaged or married and I start thinking I need to do those things, too) I entertain the idea for about 5 seconds and then think "ugh, no, I don't want that". But I'm constantly thinking of ideas for stories I want to write (which I never do because I suck at it, but that's a whole other topic) and it's almost always extremely sappy romance stuff. And when it comes to fandom, a large part of what interests me in most fandoms is shipping. Even though I have no interest in romance in my actual life, apparently I can't get enough of it in fiction.

I'm the same way. I love writing sappy romances and most of my daydreams involve my pairings going on cheesy dates, but I have no interest in them in real life.

Same, with romance and also with sex.

I don't like GoT/ASOIAF in part because of all the rape and whatnot
and yet I like Berserk

I have no explanation nor excuse.

Could it be because one is drawn, and the other's live action/written? A lot of people find comics/animated stuff less visceral, so they can enjoy things that would normally put them off because there's more of a remove.

Well, by that logic I shouldn't be so bothered by ASOIAF, because it's described rather than portrayed visually... and tbh, there are pages in Berserk that I kind of skim over quickly because urgh.

I think that it actually has more to do with the characters, for me. I watched the (far less horribly violent) Berserk anime way back when, and I really liked all the Band of the Hawk characters, and Guts is all... wounded and desperate and such. I hated Griffith so much, so I really wanted Guts to have his revenge, and for Casca to be okay.
I never really got that connected to GRRM's characters, and mostly find them all sort of jerkish... so I'm not motivated to overcome my feelings about the blood, gore, and sexual violence, and just get turned off by the whole thing.

I have never been that interested in Berserk, but I can see that.

I had friends who loved ASOIAF, and I didn't care, but I eventually decided without reading even one chapter that the way GRRM writes would just piss me off. He likes to set up unsympathetic protagonists to suffer and die in some strange pantomime of how he thinks tragedy is supposed to work.

(The funny thing is that I can say that based on how other people have described a series I have never read, and the one short story of Martin's I have read.)

As bloody as Berserk is, I suspect the writer actually expects the readers to care about the characters.

I mean, that's kind of how I personally feel about Martin's writing, and I read the first ASOIAF novel and own one of his comics (received it as a gift), so I'm not going to argue with you on that XD

Berserk does have far more sympathetic protagonists, and really, when there was the big murderfest where a whole lot of characters got killed, they were characters that you actually gave a shit about (at least imo).
And there are a few interesting subversions in the series. Like the fact that Guts starts off as this loner dark swordsman with the haunted past bent on revenge, but later actually admits that he was just being self-indulgent and he really should have spent his time taking care of the person he loves. I honestly wasn't expecting that.
