True, but they kept it at home and not in Britain. That is why they are hated for setting the IRA off who didn't keep it at home, and not for being violent backwards natives. The reason that Britons are so up in arms now is that there is a real possibility of them not only setting the IRA off again on Britain, but also bringing their backwards politics onto the British peoples via this deal. As long as the Royalists keep it at home then they can do what they please, just not in Britain please.
