I'm not going to dispute that Roy Mustang has a healthy appreciation for the female physique. I just don't recall it ever being said that he doesn't like men. He could be bi for all we know, and I'm sure a lot of people interpret his character that way.

We also don't know that he isn't a horse molester, because he never said he doesn't want to bone a horse, but I'm not going to get my feathers ruffled if anyone says, "He doesn't find horses sexy!" in a secret.

I don't agree with the secret-maker, don't get me wrong. It's a stupid and narrow-minded way of getting across a good idea, which is, "I don't like people who RP characters as being obsessed with gay sex out of the clear blue sky." But to say that he needs to prove his heterosexuality is like saying he has zero canon interest in women, which isn't true. What he needs to prove is his homophobia or something, before the secret-maker can go making the claim that he ONLY likes women and it's OOC to make him like men.

All I'm saying is, poor choice of words, I guess. For my part, I'm with you -- I don't really let it bother me if a character is interested in women canonically if I think there's a man he's very slashy with -- but your original comment made me think that you were denying he had interest in women, which I thought I would joke about.

Sorry for the mix-up! I guess it was a poor choice of words on my part; I was just trying to say that there's no reason he couldn't be bi. I agree with you, and I don't think RPers should take canonically straight characters and RP them as gay. But if it's a character such as Roy who has definite canon interests in women but who also has incredible canon slash potential, I don't care if they play him as being gay.

Honestly, it was purely the fact that the OP used Roy as an example that irked me and prompted that response. I couldn't speak for any other characters in the secret because I didn't recognize them, but I am in fact a gigantic believer in bisexual!Roy and I don't understand how people can claim he's completely straight... just IMHO.

That's all good then. ♥ There are definitely some characters that I just identify subconsciously as being straight and I find it hard to slash them, but other characters just have slashy relationships or there's canonical reason to interpret them as gay or bi. Basically, unless the character says outright, "I'm not interested in X," there's plenty of room for interpretation while remaining IC. And sometimes even if they do say that. Just sleeping with X doesn't make them OOC. That's such a ridiculous idea. XD
