I have a friend who lets people call him "they/them" but that's because since he doesn't pass entirely yet, some people would misgender him a lot online, and it was weirdly easier to get some of them to use neutral pronouns instead of male.

I feel like it's probably be different if it's someone I know irl, but on tumblr? Nah. I'll never interact with them (nor will I probably think about them in a way that warrants the usage of any pronouns), so it's just a sponatneous reaction.
I'm also from a country where no real neutral pronouns exist so it doesn't come up a lot.

Transboys have it so damn easy. They could do with a little more misgendering to bind them back to the cause.
