Eventually yes. But for the several hundred years (minimum) until something did, the rest of the ecosystem would be collapsing like never before seen.

Jeez, why do you "something else will come along" guys never consider length of time that eventually part takes? Whether it is ecology or economy, the damage between the old vanishing and new appearing is real.
