People are pack animals/social creatures, and fandom is a large example of that. There's a show I'm iffy on and not loving and I feel like I'm missing something because people whose opinions I respect and with whom I share several interests rave about it.

I get what OP's saying, but I also understand where you're coming from because of different strokes for different folks.
