Actually, no. Especially if it is widely known that there's an epidemic of robberies, people will have exponentially less sympathies for someone who threw caution to the wind and, say, refused to check up on his house's security measures despite being situation in a robbery hotspot.

However little sympathy you have for the person in question, that should not be the focus when you're discussing the broader question of home robberies
