I totally know where you're coming from.

If I may comfort you a little - I found driving lessons actually quite calming. Make sure you have an instructor that's kind and accepts your anxiety. My driving instructor was super calm, very gentle, and let me take my time getting used to everything. It was really great. I kind of regret that I can't work with him now, because I feel like I'd be a lot more confident.

But don't feel like a failure! Even in this thread there are a bunch of responders. It's a natural thing, I think.
