The thing is though, there is no reason to declaw cats. Claw covers exist, and you can even trim their claws if those don't work. Its less about the after effects (more likely to bite and litterbox issues) than it is unnecessary and painful for the cat. Cats can absolutely adapt if they are declawed - but they shouldn't have to.
