I agree. Well, I wouldn't say I love them. But I like them quite a lot. What interests me is exactly how horrible this world sounds to live in (way more horrible than the historical period that was its starting point) and yet some characters manage to thrive. Although, mostly it is the women I'm interested in. The men don't interest me as much. But things super suck for the women, and yet so many of them thrive (both for good or for bad). I love that.

It does seem that a lot of the fandom is made up of dudebros (and others) who don't care about how awful the world is and in some ways almost romanticize it. And then there are the anti-fans. It can be hard to find places to talk about the books I think.
