Smells

What are your favorite smells? Least favorite? Do you find it attractive when people wear certain scents, or smell like certain things (like soap, food, etc)?

I really like the smell of sweaty socks. I'm not fond of most perfumes.

I like spicy scents. I also like the smell of mint, lemon, coffee, and earl grey tea. I don't like most florals, and I reeeally dislike the overbearing scents marketed towards men. oh, and tobacco--but that's pretty common.

I like clean laundry smell and find guys who smell slightly of detergent way hotter than fuckin Old Spice or Axe. That said, there are some scents, like from deodorant or w/e, that I do like, but it varies. Smelling like you bathed in it is a huge turnoff.

As for smells I just find generally pleasant, many common ones - lavender, cinnamon, etc. A weird one that always takes me back in a sort of bittersweet (mostly sad) way is that brassy smell you get when you open up the case of a brass instrument. It is a permanent smell in band locker rooms, but sometimes I'll randomly get a whiff of something similar somewhere. Also smells that smell a lot like people I used to know, especially one of my exes...

I absolutely hate whatever cologne my one coworker practically bathes in.

I love honeysuckle and gardenia. At Christmas time, I'm always burning balsam and cedar candles.

Bath an Body works makes this really nice eucalyptus mint scent that is good in a bubble bath.

Odd scents would probably be diesel fuel always reminds me of my dad.

I love sandalwood. Specifically, sandalwood incense. The good kind, like what they burn in temples. I can just hover around that all day.

I don't like floral scents unless it's coming from a bunch of flowers.

I find cheap shampoo really attractive, probably because my BFF's hair has smelled like the same cheap shampoo for the last 20+ years. I guess when someone you love smells like one specific thing you get attached.

My favorite Lush face mask smells like almond banana pudding and I find it strangely relaxing. I also like sweet smells, fruity scents (especially strawberries and peaches), and the smell of laundry detergent. I can't stand most men's colognes and very strong women's perfumes. They make my nose itch.

Cooking garlic. Most fruit. Ginger. Cinnamon. Pine tree smell.

Strong scents mostly are a turn off. Floral scents. Coffee (I love the taste of coffee, just don't love the smell).

I love the smells of lemon, garlic, most flowers, most spices, chocolate.
I hate the smells of coffee, grapefruit, tea tree oil, bay rum and this one brand of dish soap.

I love any kind of green smells. Like fresh-cut grass, pine, cedar, bayberry - the green wax melts that come out at Xmas are my catnip, I hoard them. Anything spicy and green-smelling.

Also citrus smells. Orange/lemon/grapefruit. I don't like things to be super-sweet, i like tangy and sharp.

Nag Champa. The only incense I can tolerate.

I love earthy and wood scents. Floral as well but unfortunately, I'm extremely sensitive to smells and especially floral notes are my main migraine triggers even though I like them.
I also love the smell of cold cellars, rain (especially on not asphalt) and several herbs and spices (especially basil).

I really hate smelling like food myself. Smokers who just smell like cold smoke are quite unpleasant and people who smell like alcohol are pretty disguting to me. But my most hated smell is something our garden is infested with: Stinkhorns. I never wanted to know what it would smell like during the zombie apocalypse. Now I know.

Favorites: tomato vines, marigolds, lemon, linden flowers, dried lavender, fresh thyme and rosemary, mint, fir trees when the sun is on them, balsam fir at Christmas, koreanspice viburnum, honeysuckle, roses

Also cooking smells--pretty much any.

Hate: lavender essential oil, the smell that tangerines leave on your skin when you peel them, callery pear flowers
