Re: 'Sherlock' Team Reuniting For 'Dracula'

I love the book Dracula and modern adaptations of it always disappoint me, so at this point I have no hope for any of them. Like, can I get one goddamn adaption that doesn't push a Mina/Dracula love plot?

If it has a decent Renfield character in it I will at least watch those scenes though.

Yeah.

Like, what's even the point of vampires if they're not gay

agreed

I can't be the only one who read the original book and had a nice wank over Dracula/Johnathan? like that was pretty sexual, man

yeah, I'm pretty sure it's legitimately part of the book's subtext in that specific case

da but I have read academic analyses on the homoeroticism of Dracula/Jonathan so... yeah its definitely in there

NA

It's definitely in the text for me, too. The whole part with Jonathan in Dracula's castle had a distinct sexual awakening vibe. And those were the only parts of the book I liked. Too bad it wasn't all awesome like that :(

I was pretty sure Dracula was in love with Jonathan, or at least had very strong feelings for him (see when he saves him from his lady vamps). Dracula just needed love. And blood. And both things are readily available (the latter easier to procure than the former) in all kinds of human beings :D

The only thing I would quibble with here is the word "love", because - at least in the text - I don't think it's anything close to what we would think of as romantic love, at least.
