He was genuinely good in this role though. And I'm tired of him as well so I went in with way low expectations.

Same here. I've seen him in about half-dozen things, and I actually liked his performance and character here more than anything else I've seen.

I couldn't get past the fact that while he was doing a tolerable generic-American accent (overall; it wavered some), his specific inflection made him sound not like Cumberbatch, but like Jon Hamm. And that's WEIRD. I wanted him to try to sell me a Lucky Strike.

I'm ESL and I don't know Jon Hamm (I think) so maybe that's why it didn't get annoyed by that.
