^ This is it exactly. Both the screenwriter Steve Kloves and most-common David Yates ADORE Hermione (in a slightly creepy, fetishtic way) and are Harmony shippers, so they managed to squeeze a ton of Harry/Hermione subtext into the films that wasn't in the book. They also put Hermione on a pedestal in a way that completely obliterates or excuses any of her canonical flaws and gives most of Ron's best moments from the books to Harry and/or Hermione instead.

I personally have always adored Ron and personally love him even harder out of spite for all the hate that he gets. I just find it odd that people are able to understand and excuse Harry and Hermione's realistic moments of spite and teen angst but god forbid Ron and/or Ginny have actual human emotions some of the time.

THIS

I will never get over Ron being the one to panic in the first movie over the Devil's Snare. It really did a disservice to both characters.

So much this. To me, that scene is worse than "HARRY DID YA PUT YA NAME IN THE GOBLEDAFIYAAAA!!!?!?!" from the fourth one. It's like, way to shit all over Ron's character.

Yes. Yes. YES. All the yes. What a wonderful comment. It's why I don't like the movies except 1&2 which were faithful and 6 which was silly fun. It's why I stay far far away from the fandom.
