Been awhile since we had a thread for this. What is new in the world of movies, tv, and games?

Apparently they are making a venom movie. It WON'T be apart of the MCU (maybe) and Carnage will be the villain. http://screenrant.com/venom-movie-carnage-villain/

They got upset when Disney reminded them it is a Star Wars movie, not just an Inception-in-Space story.

I guess the Rogue One thing scared Disney off from letting good directors try to make good movies?

Given how much they had to do to put the Star Wars back into that Star Wars movie after Gareth "What's a Godzilla?" Edwards screwed it up, I can imagine their tolerance for prima donna directors is probably pretty low. Directors ought to be going into this thinking more like tv show directors, it is work for hire directing something in an established universe and with a set style and character history, instead of the usual "the fuck I want" mindset that comes with a movie. Disney is not going to tolerate someone coming in with their own script which couldn't get out of a slushpile on its own and which they want to slap a franchise name on instead just to get it made.

Just because Gareth Edwards fucked up doesn't mean no one could ever succeed.

And, like, there's not actually any law of nature saying that the Star Wars films have to be genericized and rigidly knocked into a precise house style. Clearly that's the way that Disney has decided to go, but personally I'd kind of prefer directors being able to try different styles and make more interesting movies out of it.

I'll stick with Disney's decision to make them watchable and fun instead though. For your out there and different stuff, that is where arthouse cinema comes in.

I'm not saying they have to be arthouse

I need to catch up. I haven't seen the last two seasons. But I want to know how it ends. I want to see Dany and her dragons in Westeros.

The last two episode of last season are some of the best television I have ever seen.

I did watch parts (the Cersei parts and the Dany parts mostly). So I know what happened at the end generally. I just want to watch the whole thing and get all the details.

Oooh so looking forward. Personally I have some surprising newfound respect for Jon Snow after the latest events and I'm dying to see what happens at the North both with his and Bran's storylines. Also, my namesake. What are YOU plotting. I love him and the little sideways look he threw at Sansa at the end of the "King in the North" scene.

ALSO QUEEN CERSEI. She killed all my faves, but it was still fascinating to watch, haha. The clash of titans will be marvelous.
