As long as the action sequences don't completely suck, it's willing to pander to audiences, the budget isn't too ridiculous, and it has a decent release date, it will make at least some money.

There will be enough press buzz about the movie mentioning that it is about a Spider-Man badguy that enough people will assume it is part of the MCU. Although I think most people really don't care about franchises in the way a lot of the power-fans do. You're right that as long as the stunt sequences and explosions are executed well enough that people will just go see it as another action movie.

For most audiences, it's about fun escapism on the weekend. If people really bothered to think about it, half of the MCU would have flopped already.

Most people won't care; it is a superhero movie with a spider-man type character in it, that is good enough for them. Or they'll still think it is anyway and bitch on tvtropes about why the continuity makes no sense.

If it's Tom Hardy in Warrior/beast mode again, I will absolutely see it regardless of Spidey, because I am a shallow, thirsty girl who is totally here for basic white dudes with arms the size of Folgers cans. Take my money.
