You came to fight, huh?

(Anonymous) 2017-06-22 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I can tell that much but I'm not sure what they want to fight about...

Broadly, that the anime series Yuri On Ice is... exploitative and homophobic, I guess?

(Anonymous) 2017-06-22 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe the bisexuality thing? Gotta admit, I haven't heard that one before. Is this 'cause of the Chihoko thing (which wasn't actually about a girl) and the anime making it look like Yuri was into Yuuko at one point?

(Anonymous) 2017-06-22 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
The obvious bisexuality is Yuuri maybe possibly having habe a crush in Yuuko wenn they were younger.
I this k oh was actually heute that someone insisted that clearly, this was the actual canon romance instead of Viktor/Yuuri. The het shippers are kind of grasping at straws to hate on gay ships with this show.

It's funny, one of the first Yuri on Ice reviews I read was actually someone insisting just that. A begrudging acknowledgement of "possible homoeroticism" but paragraphs about how Yuri was skating for his childhood sweetheart and crush Yuuko. Ama~zing.

Lol my autocorrect did a real number on this. Second line should read "I think it was actually here" wtf random German?

(Anonymous) 2017-06-22 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
lol mte, I feel like OP combined three secrets into one and missed the punchline on all three. hey, we've all been there, I guess

As someone who is relatively new to shipping m/m because of YoI, can someone tell me how this series could have been made non-fujoshi? Like, what are some examples of a scenario that would make a scene fujoshi rather than whatever else anons are arguing is better representation (BL?)?

(Anonymous) 2017-06-23 06:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Probably a serious, realistic and educating story about homosexuality, or at least an unpopular work categorized as seinen, specially if has character designs that aren't "pretty."

That's pretty much the only way for anime/manga with m/m to not get dismissed as fanservice for fujoshis by certain circles.
