Why do people on this comm consistently take one party's side of an argument (usually the party that happens to post here) at total face value

(Anonymous) 2017-06-22 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Because in this case, I can't think of any relevant argument for the other side. Free free to give me one.

(Anonymous) 2017-06-22 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
That's not what I mean.

What I mean is, we don't really know whether these were the actual arguments that people made or not, because the only person we know about them from was also involved in the argument. I'm not saying that OP is necessarily insincere, but any time you're involved in an argument, it's really easy to let emotions blur your memory. But every time it happens, it's total 100% credulity that everything the OP says is gospel truth.

Oh, they are. I've seen them.

nayrt but I have seen some people say utterly bonkers shit about ~child coded~ characters and how shipping them is pedo-ish. It was in a couple different anime fandoms I saw it but if the hot mess that is the Sherlock fandom is also getting in on the fun it would not surprise me one iota.

(Anonymous) 2017-06-22 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I didn't mean it to read like that. I'm not in the "Sherlock" fandom itself, 'cause I haven't seen the show, but this doesn't sound too dissimilar to some of the other nonsense I've heard from fandoms in general about what constitutes pedophilia, so I was mainly just reacting to that overall mindset.

But if there is indeed more to this particular story beyond what's shared in the secret, the OP or anyone else involved in this can share if they want. I'd be fine with hearing it.
