The creator basically said she wanted to create a world where discrimination just didn't exist, so she did. It's absolutely a world where no one would blink at same-sex attraction. In fact, even though it's (sort of) a misunderstanding, there's a part where a whole group of people congratulate the main couple on their engagement, like they would any couple making an announcement. It is refreshing, and it's really sweet.

Nonono, don't you see, an anime with good LGBT representation must be so niche that nobody knows it, entirely unappealing to fujoshi, ideally include lots of gritty suffering for them LGBTs or be bland slice of life stuff without much actual plot, and include lots of hot steamy action without being titillating to a female viewership. Only then will it achieve the status of tru representation (tm) according to anon in this (and every other YoI) thread.

In all the time I've seen this discussion going on (and once again, you can ask case if you want:I'm not the person you believe me to be) it was always the same pattern of someone talking about how they like YoI and then one or two anons coming in in full condescension mode to "school" people about how the show they like is such a shitty fujobait show. Every single time. And you know what the best thing about this is? i don't even care all that much about YoI - I find it generally cringey and I don't like cringe. Jesus, I'm too tired to write a coherent reply, I've been stuck in this damn hospital for too many hours, but dude I was obviously refering to the crazy guy who wrote the previous post, you should have used DA if you weren't him.

I've never attacked anyone for liking the show, I like it too, I've only argued that I do not think the show is great as gay representation goes and only when that was the topic being discussed. As a bi man I think I've the right to defend my opinion of not being comfortable with something I consider fanservice for women being called great representation. If it bothers you that much and you are seeing my posts as some sort of attack, stop reading them, problem solved.
