NAYRT
Yeah, so what you want is an official statement by the Collective Assembly of Gay Men of Japan and maybe, just maybe, you might consider it enough proof. Gotcha.

(Anonymous) 2017-06-23 07:36 am (UTC)(link)
Aaaand another strawman. And I'm the unreasonable one here, right. But I'm feeling generous today so I'll take the bait.

If you wanted to prove that Western men think YOI is great LGBT media you could easily list dozens of blogs, Tumblr, articles, Tweets, forums, etc. praising the show for its gay representation because Western men loved it,the proof is there, google it and you have dozens of results. It's easy.

Now, can you do the same with Japanese men? I doubt it. What I'd like to see is dozens of Japanese folks saying how great they think the show is. I don't think extrapolating one guy's opinion to everyone else is right, sue me.

(Anonymous) 2017-06-23 07:42 am (UTC)(link)
And I'd still like to see you posting all the opinions of those masses of Japanese gay men who despise the show. Go on.

For the 11th time: I never said they dislike it. I say they don't care.

I don't think it's such a difficult idea to grasp. Why is your reading comprehension so terrible?

(Anonymous) 2017-06-23 08:19 am (UTC)(link)
You seem to have a huge problem grasping that something can contain fanservice and still be a good show/good representation for plenty people.

(Anonymous) 2017-06-23 08:36 am (UTC)(link)
Not for me and many others, deal with it. And way to change the topic to something unrelated. Like I said, I don't care for you. Stop following me around and bringing out past discussions. I don't care. This is borderline staljerish.

Holy shit you just sound like a mad YOI stan.

http://saotome-michi.tumblr.com/post/156650534399/hey-not-in-like-a-rude-way-or-anything-but-do-you

it's a start

(Anonymous) 2017-06-23 08:18 am (UTC)(link)
So that's one for one. Which, as we have heard, doesn't count.

(Anonymous) 2017-06-23 02:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I remember someone posted one blog link of a gay man critiquing YOI and had like, 5 comments in total (and some of them telling him the lack of realism [aka homophobia and suffering] wasn't necessarily a bad thing). Everything else has been "my friends," "people I know," or vague generalizations based on ~superior cultural knowledge~

But the thing is... the LGBT community (in Japan or anywhere else) is not one homogenized community, so anyone who wants one example of one or the other can find it if they search hard enough.

It's just not worth doing it here to see any common points, because our usual troll doesn't care about anything that proves them wrong and even one lone post with three comments that supports their views is a gospel of truth for them.
