The way I read it, they're just saying not to use possessive language about black characters, presumably because this person thinks there are different implications to doing that with black characters than with white characters what with the history of possessiveness toward black people.

Which is stupid. This is 2017, not 1866. We don't live in the past. Stuff like this is a reflection of people who (for reasons only known to them) want to erase decades of civil rights advances.

If someone feels they can identify with that character for whatever reason, who gives a shit about their skin color? It's a GOOD thing when people who aren't the same race as a character can find a PoC character relatable enough to be able to identify with them on a personal level.
