Re: Series disappointments
(Anonymous) 2017-06-24 06:37 am (UTC)(link)S2 was weaker on the whole, though I liked the take on Baskerville. It was the only one of that season that didn't feel like it was going up its own butt, haha. Reichenbach was a decent cliffhanger, though, and even though most of the episode was kind of a mess, the emotional impact of the last five or so minutes really worked on me.
S3 was garbage. Just. Immediate hot garbage that it never really managed to break out of. Sign of Three came closest, just out of sheer irreverence, but the whole season was just... bad. Badly paced, badly written, all of the above.
(I will admit, the special was kind of charming. At least until the final act, where it fell the fuck apart ahdjgk)
And we just.... don't speak of S4, honestly. It might as well have just been five straight hours of Moffat and Gatiss jacking off all over each other howling about how 'clever' they are. I couldn't believe I was watching the same show. I barely had any hopes for it at all, and it still managed to disappoint me.
