Your entire reasoning boils down to "It's a popular thing and another popular thing so people talk about it." I just don't think something being popular alone makes it worthy of discussion, not when the discussion in question is as trite and worn-out as it is.

Yes, you don't think that popularity alone makes something worthy of discussion. But you seem not to realize that you're not the sole arbiter of what's discussion-worthy, and the very existence of all the comments you're objecting to is proof that others disagree. It's as if you don't know that your opinions (no matter how strong or passionately held) have a limited influence on other peoples' opinions and even less influence on their actions. Your complaint boils down to "HEY EVERYBODY! STOP TALKING ABOUT STUFF I DON'T WANT TO TALK ABOUT!"

Like I said, it's funny. :)

The smiley face isn't quite giving the impression you were going for.

(Anonymous) 2017-06-24 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Feel free to ignore it! My words still stand, as does my assessment of your complaint. Your expectation that people should quit talking about a popular topic because you don't think it's worthy of discussion is pretty funny to me. It may not be funny to anyone else, but that's okay - I don't expect my opinions to have the level of influence you seem to expect from your opinions.

(Anonymous) 2017-06-24 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't expect them to stop talking about it. I simply think they are wasting their time.

(Anonymous) 2017-06-24 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, okay. Well, I'm sure they are properly chastened by your disapproval.

(Anonymous) 2017-06-24 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
As much as I'm chastened by yours, I'm sure.

(Anonymous) 2017-06-24 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I don't expect you to be chastened. People who express surprise about the existence of discussions they aren't personally interested in aren't very amenable to other peoples' approval or disapproval. It's ironic, really.

(Anonymous) 2017-06-25 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)
It's weird how personally you're taking this. You still haven't come up with anything new re: why this is a worthy discussion, btw.

;)

NAYRT

I think it's giving the exact impression they were going for. This is not a compliment, by the way.

(Anonymous) 2017-06-24 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Understood. I will not take the liberty of feeling complimented.

(Anonymous) 2017-06-24 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
DA

Unless the impression they were going for is "I'm insincere and condescending," I'm thinking you're right.

(Anonymous) 2017-06-24 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, no. I was perfectly sincere when I said that I thought it was funny someone's complaining that other people keep talking about stuff they don't want them to talk about. I might be condescending, but that's a separate issue, really.
