The pressure to like femslash in the first place is making me not like it. The hardcore fans already act like if you like het or slash (especially slash, even though it seems like het would be a bigger threat since slash doesn't take "away any" any women from being shipped with other women), you already hate femslash. You cannot like more than one, you must choose! Well, now that's nearly the case for me because of this very attitude, so congrats on your self-made truth.

The sky won't fall if you admit you're just not into it.

Thanks for proving my point.

Orrrr perhaps you're the type of fan who doesn't understand hype backlash? Because femslash isn't the only thing I used to like but got turned off of because of the fans.

NAYRT but like... it's just not something that I consider very plausible in general. Like, I'm not denying that hype backlash exists. It definitely does! But in my experience, hype backlash mostly makes you really hate things you would otherwise not care about. I think most of the time, people who talk about how they would've totally been into something if it weren't for the meanie fans actually are just grasping for a rhetorical flourish.

I see more het fans who insist that the only way to not be misogynistic is to write het. Write slash? You're erasing the ladies! Write femslash? You probably just want to pair them off to keep them away from your slash OTP!
