I think it was a mistake to the Shannara books. Brooks already had a much better book series to film which would have allowed them to use real world sets and locations as well as fantasy stuff. They should have done Kingdom of Landover.

I heard about attempts to make a Landover movie a few years ago and it was an abomination. The thought was to give Ben kids who would go to Landover with him, a concept I raged over on the IMDB forums at the time. To make it worse, Brooks was apparently OK with this as long as it got his book on screen.
