Job woes thread

(Anonymous) 2017-06-26 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
I hate my low paying, part time, terrible retail job, and I have been looking for a second job, or maybe a wholly different one, but the job market sucks and I've been applying for stuff, but nothing yet.

Today I happened to see a job posting for a job I would LOVE. It is related to my (useless) major, it pays better, I'm qualified, it has the possibility for upward momentum, etc.

...but its an hour+ commute away. And I can't drive. I am learning, but it will still be a bit before I can get my license, and even longer before I can get a car.

I am miserable and this has just left me feeling defeated.

What about you F!S? What are your job woes?

I'd still apply, maybe they have connections closer to you. And if you impress them enough, maybe they can help you in some way. Nothing to lose, good luck!

I've been applying for six months and I graduated in a field that's actually going places and still no avail. Luckily a distant family member does what I do and is shopping my resume around

Unfortunately they are a small company, as in only a few people, so they have exactly one location and I wouldn't be starting with a vital enough position for me to expect to get help with it :(

Good luck with your search, I hope your relative is helpful!
