As someone who recently got into hockey fandom, SAME.

... Where do you get your fics from? I mean, yeah, those seem to be the main couples in hockey RPS, but even in AO3 there are tons of stuff like Tyler Seguin/Jamie Benn (and variations with the other Benn bro), Connor McDavid/Dylan Strome, Connor McDavid/basically anyone, Auston Matthews/Mitch Marner...

Hockey RPS is fun, though. Welcome to the party.

I made this secret out of frustration after three days straight (before the Cup was won even) of nothing but Crosby/Malkin and Toews/K*** fics being the new fics posted on AO3. It isn't easy to filter one pair out and it is impossible to filter both at once.

And it hasn't been much better lately either, because the amount of those other pairs is hardly anything comparatively. I know I'm not owed anything from anyone, it's just annoying when I have to read the same stuff over and over because all the new stuff is the same.

I'm not new to RPS, but thank you for the welcome anyway! :)

Do you not know how to filter pairings at AO3? Because filtering out two pairings is one of the easiest things to do.

Yeah, I hear you, but a lot of the elements surrounding Crosby and Malkin are really great for storytelling, so I understand. I whole-heartedly agree about the other pairing mentioned, though, I can't understand how they're STILL so fucking popular.

An asshole who probably raped someone, but there wasn't enough evidence to convict. A very good hockey player whose fame also got him out of assault charges, who also likes to wear t-shirts making fun of other people. A dick who taunted opposing players about their divorces, wore blackface, and who won the most valuable player in the league of the year last season as voted by his peers as well as the other most valuable player in the league of the year by the hockey writers.

A good portion of the fandom has taken to blacklisting his name. Patrick Kane.
