Anyone good with computer stuff? Google is failing me

(Anonymous) 2017-06-26 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I legit had Microsoft Office from a free download that my university gave out (it's been a few years since I graduated). Lately, it's been acting funny, like getting stuck on the loading screen and not loading even after restarts. Prompted me to upgrade for free to Microsoft Office 2016, while simultaneously randomly telling my subscription had expired (inconsistently, sometimes it worked, sometimes now). After the latest bout of not loading, I tried to "repair online" through my Programs in my Control Panel. Well, unsurprisingly, it was stuck on a loop and didn't progress even after leaving it run all night. I finally forced restart.

Which was evidently the stupidest thing I could've ever done, because now Microsoft Office is completely gone from my computer. Like, it no longer shows up in my programs. I tried to connect to the Microsoft Office people (probably should've done that to start with) but they couldn't find it on my computer and just tried to sell it to me again. Like, I legitimately did have it! I can't afford to buy it!

Is there any way to recover a program that I had on my computer 24 hours ago that got wiped after I restarted on a frozen repair? Or alternatively, cheap ways to get Microsoft Office... I need it for professional reasons. :-/

Try resetting to your last system restore point.

Thanks, I couldn't remember what that was called!!! I'm trying now... possibly stuck in the system restore initializing screen, too terrified to force restart again though. I'll cross my fingers and let it spin awhile..

libreoffice is a good alternative

Can add I recently got libreoffice and I like it. There are a few formatting things that bug me, but I like the functionality.

Open Office Suite is a good alternative as well. Try contacting Microsoft help? But yeah, maybe system restore to an earlier point?
