Foot fetish aside...

In ancient Greece, if you were inside the house, you were barefoot. So, if she was inside a house and barefoot, this is actually accurate to that ancient culture, especially among the rich and noble women.

That ought to be a note to a costumier, not a script direction though. A script direction like this is drawing attention to the bare feet, that is where it crosses the line into starting to get creepy. It is all about context.

NAYRT but, would you have even noticed if you didn't already know what his fetish is?

Public figures like Whedon and Tarantino, it's going to slip out. But for example, my main fetish is orgasm. If characters don't orgasm (preferably with lots of fluids), I end up with blue.. ovaries. Therefore, in the stories I write, the characters have orgasms often. But that falls right in line with romance and erotica, the genres I write in. So it's not immediately obvious.

Heck, I had no idea Rumiko Takahashi is a foot fetishist as well until it was pointed out to me. Only then did I realize how many times she draws characters barefoot.

Being a creator means a lot of your dirty laundry is going to be out there. It's a hazard of the job.
