Yeah, no shit, that's my point. I've seen many people who think capitalism needs to be demolished completely. Generally the same people who know vague things about economics and buzzwords like 'universal living wage' and 'post-scarcity', and they don't understand the huge gulf that exists between our world and their fictional utopia.

Currently, American style capitalism is failing. But for the most part it's a gradual failing. The problems of it are not so different than any other system. Calling to dismantle it doesn't actually address those problems, it just adds a bunch of new ones that are often way worse. There has to be a balance.

I think it's in the way you worded your post. You seem to be saying "anti-capitalist" meaning "extreme pro communism" when those aren't the same thing. You could be totally anti- the current American system while being for a social democracy, for example.

Sorry, I was probably too vague with my wording.

Mostly I was talking about the sort of tumble-style Discourse that I've occasionally seen crop up here. Sort of radical anti-capitalism, not backed up by clear understanding of other economic systems. Or even clear understanding of what capitalism itself is.

Like, the sort of people who think that anyone who owns a business is enslaving their workers or something. Like PETA for people.

Yeah I think it's a wording issue that confused a lot of people. You'll find a bunch of people here who are pro social democracy like in Scandinavia that keeps getting mentioned. They would probably call themselves anti-capitalist since while it might have a capitalist market structure a social democracy is not extreme capitalism. It kinda sounded like you were saying everyone who is anti-capitalist is pro Venezuela esque systems.

Radical anti-capitalism that wants to break the whole thing into communism is a lot more specific and I'd agree with you.

I'm not afraid to say capitalism has been failing for centuries. any system that is OK with letting people starve because they can't pull themselves up by their bootstraps fails, imo.
