yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh sorry to say but this is a good chunk of the reason I dropped out of shipping eruri :| too much destruction of Levi's personality, too much daddy!kink (often unwarned for), too much about tiny delicate Levi who just needs a huge
blarg I can't even continue.

It's so weird for me, because I ship Eruri but... almost the opposite of how fandom does? I like a D/s dynamic between them, but I prefer Levi as the dom. And definitely neither one of them as the tiny delicate "uke" type.

Clearly you are in the same boat as I am.
I actually have an eruri Levi-joins-the-corps fic languishing almost complete on my hard drive. And it's silly and OTT and ridiculous and also sort of D/s and Levi tops (but nobody is a shrinking flower) and lots of things get blown up.

I really need to finish that one.

Levi is the worst uke in the universe, it drives me crazy.

Yeaaaahhh I don't get it at all. There's nothing in his character that lends itself to being that submissive, and especially not in the bad-yaoi-trope way. Not to mention that Erwin is pretty willingly subservient to Levi already. :/ I just don't see where they're getting it from.

Yeah... I mean in my fic I went with the idea that Levi is this pretty short guy who's really good at taking down REALLY BIG MONSTERS.
I definitely see Erwin as more manipulative, and there might be some topping-from-the-bottom or whatever going on.
But it's so obvious that people are just reading their relationship shallowly, as in big dude commander/small dude subordinate and leaving it at that.

The potential of their characters was what drew me to the ship in the first place.... but the fandom drove me right the hell away pretty quickly.

I watch SNK but I've never read any fic. I definitely can't picture either of them as a stereotypical uke. And Levi as "delicate" kind of breaks my brain.

Finding good eruri fic is such a chore.

I've done this before with other fandoms too. I get the appeal of eruri, but it has never interested me. It doesn't help that I have ran into a few nasty eruri fans.

yeeeah some fanon works are way too ooc for me.

I enjoy their interactions in canon, and hell Levi is going to cry for love haha.
