Re: What changes in an adaptation did you hate?

Sailor Moon Crystal - the scene where the Senshi just stand there and let the Shitennou attack them because they were past lovers and they don't want to hurt them. Not because the Shitennou should die or anything, but just because it's poorly done scene. I would be okay if it were just Mercury, Mars, and Jupiter since they literally just found out about their connection to the Shitennou and I could buy them being overwhelmed, but for Sailor Venus? This isn't news to her, and in every incarnation of this arc her sense of duty is more important than her personal romantic feelings. It's not like killing them was the only option, either - they could have tried to restrain them or even just jumped out of the way!

Actually, I just hate the Senshi/Shitennou angle of that adaptation in general. I'll admit I'm not a fan of most of those ships except for Venus/Kunzite, but there's still potential in them. Rei's issues with men versus Mars's feelings for Jadeite? Venus and Kunzite as the respective leaders of their own teams and a shared sense of duty toward their Princess/Prince? You can work with this! It's like the writers wanted to go the Senshi/Shitennou route but didn't know how (or didn't have time?) to adapt it to the source material. I'm still mad years later.

God, I haaaaated the Senshi/Shitennou angle in Crystal. I did ship Venus/Kunzite and was hoping Crystal would give them more development, but the added romance between the rest of the characters ended up being a huge waste since the Shitennou get killed off just as they're starting to remember. Maybe Crystal was going for a tragic romance, but it just felt stupid. I also hated Venus not killing Beryl. That's one of my favorite scenes in the manga and Crystal screwed it up.
